A mixture of new, old, unsigned and established artists we've been listening to over the last 7 days…

No Hot Ashes
Infectious Manchester-based indie-blues outfit Turrentine Jones formed in the late 2000s and have drawn comparisons to everyone from the Strokes and the Rolling Stones to Booker T & the MGs and the Doors. 2012's EP “Le Debut” was released on their own label Monkey Junk Records in 2012, and followed a series of download-only singles.
Their debut long player, Our Days, appeared worldwide this August and the first single, Moonlight is on Yer Side, blends blues, southern rock, and pop into sinister but beguiling melodies.

For those who do, put his past out of your mind and just listen to the genuine talent displayed by a young man, still very much finding his feet and his own sound. If you've been following LUM over the last couple of weeks, you'll already know that we're big big fans of Montreal's, The Barr Brothers. We've been lucky enough to interview them and see them live in the last few weeks. It's safe to say the show at The Deaf Institute will take some beating as this years top live show.
Billed as a folk band, The Barr Brothers are multi-instrumentalists with the tightest chemistry I can recall seeing in a band. We've unashamedly included a 35 minute video below of a recent live set for KEXP. If you have the time, watch it. Live is the way you need to see this band.
