Listen Up Manchester Present:
2014 Review

10. Death From Above 1979 - The Physical World
Live Act - Augustines

From the release of their debut Rise Ye Sunken Ships in 2011, New York’s Augustines have been building a fierce reputation as a live act. The release of this years self-titled follow up has brought their music and passionate, energetic performances to a bigger and bigger crowd
LUM have been lucky enough to catch Augustines in concert three times in 2014 and each time the band have given everything, bonding with the crowd and pushing the boundaries of live music. From the Academy show in April (see Jon Birch’s review for Louder Than War) that saw the band expand on the traditional encore by bringing their instruments out into the crowd for a full on sing a long, through the Green Man festival, to a ferocious energy packed set at Manchester Cathedral, this is a band that revel in playing their music to a live audience.
Live music should be about the connection between artist and audience; Augustines nail it every time.
